Default My First Disco II

I just got a steal on a disco II and extrememly excited. I do have a few questions with thing that are going on with this vehicle. When i am driving all of a sudden the warning buzzer will start sounding and then when I go to park it I can not take the key out. I can usually get the buzzing to stop if i move the diff lock from nutural to high a few time but sometime the key will still not move back all the way so i can get it out. It kinda act like the vehicle dose not think its in park. Any tips? Thanks

Its a 1999, I only got an aftermarket key, do you know of any issues related to the diff control and my key issue? I fiddled with the shifter for the trans and it seems to let my key come out but i did not know if this model has the ignation lock if the the trans is not in park

Key issues are often related to steering wheel lock. Happened t me. Make sure your steering wheel is pulled to the left when trying to remove the key. D1 or D2 since a 99 model? Your diff should be in H..all the way to the back and leave it there unless off-road and needing your low range.

there are a number of ways to tell. the door handles on the DI are flush with the door panels. The dII door handles protrude from the sides of the doors. The rear lights on the DI are about midway up the rear of the truck. The DII rear lights are located in the upper third of the rear of truck. DI has manual climate control *****, the DII climate controls are buttons and digital. On the DI you will have a tranfer case with high and low plus high and low locked. On the DIi you will only have the high and low ability. Under the hood you will find a gems engine or a bosch, on the DI you will have a intake that says 4.0 on it and it runs front to back. On the DII, the intake will run left to right and won't have any writing on it. The DII looks overall more refined than the DI, not better or worse, just more refined. Good luck. Phil

The VIN on the D2 starts with 'SALTY...'. The VIN on a D1 will start with 'SALJY...'.

Thanks for letting me know, When I bought it i was under the impression it was a DII but the Vin start with "Saljy" and It matched all the description of a DI, so I have a DI. I was looking at the manfactor date on the door and it says 10/98. Thank for all the help but im still having the key problem. Normally when im driving it it had no problem at all but like last night I brought it home and half way the warning buzzer started going off and and when i got home I tried everything that I was told to and the key still would not come out, I took the diff lock From high to Nutural and pulled it back real hard and the buzzing stopped for about 30 sec, just enough time for me to get the key out. Any other ideas? thanks for the help
