My mechanic can't fix her, sooooo
Sent my 02 disco 2 se 7 in for a brake job....rear calipers, pads, and axle seal was replaced....still no brakes....scanner says (according to mechanic) to pressurize system....he says when he 'hot wires' pump to battery it works, when not HotWired it doesn't.... Any ideas?
Oh he's towing her home. Guess he needed the money. But whatever, where do iiii need to start troubleshooting.... Best possible considering I have no clue Wht would make my pump not work
Sorry to hear that. I'm sure that brakes also show on the scanner codes especially with the iCarsoft 1930. I see ABS diagnostic there but now I mostly use UG. If the pump is working just open the bleed screw and it should squirt some fluid out. If not, could be the abs pump or fuse.
It takes some time to get fluid through the ABS pump if the system was completely drained. You can let gravity move fluid through with a line open and some patience, or you can run the pump for a bit and eventually you'll get fluid. I experienced this when I replaced all the brake lines and the master cylinder and booster.
Patience is key...

How can I tell if the pump is/is not working? I can still hear the little 'dound' coming from modulator....also, in reference to gravity, my street is on an incline (I'm sure mechanic was on flat ground), nose up or nose down?
what happens when you put the transfer case in low and actuate the hill descent control?
In an open area away from traffic at low speed of course...
It could just need a better bleed job, I know i found it difficult to fully bleed the brakes after doing new pads.
One of the tricks is to run the ABS modulator to get the fluid through that system, then you have to bleed again, and repeat as necessary.
One way to activate the ABS without hot wiring is to use the Hill Descent Control.

Coming down my street, felt like emergency brake was on, rear tires were smoking. Was able to go in reverse and stop with brake pedal, but not forward
