I have new rocker arms and shafts on the way.

If that dosn't solve the issue, only thing left to do is pull the motor and pin the liners. At that point it's all new bearings and rings too.

Thanks for responding. I hope the rocker arms and shafts work.

Wasn't the PS pump for me, either.

New rocker arms and shafts... Still ticks.

To recap all of this going back a few months.

190K. Runs quiet when cold, ticks at idle, tick goes away at 1,200 RPM. Wife's DD until a few months ago. Well maintained.

Good oil pressure cold/hot, idle/2K RPM. Rotella 15-40W.

Good compression in all cylinders 149-151.

MMO treatment.

New radiator and genuine 180 degree t-stat - no coolant leaks.

New plugs.

New front cover/oil pump.

New timing gears/chain.

New PS pump.

New cam, lifters, rocker arms, and shafts.

Runs better than ever - great power and super smooth.

Still ticks when warm.

Forget it. You're going to drive yourself nuts looking for the tick, or spend a lot more money. Its not worth it. Drive it till it dies.

What degree does it start ticking at? It's still a slipped sleeve, albeit very early on

TC flex plate failure is an LR 'speciality' unfortunately. Towing heavy loads exacerbates this problem.

Ashcroft Transmissions

Ashcroft sell an HD flexplate and also an HD TC.

X1 I can recall worrying myself to death many times about a clicking and dead spot when I used to race Caterhams in the Vauxhall 16V challenge until I realised I was on the rev limiter

the fact that the tic goes away after 1200 rpm would direct me to a liner.
