Can my Nanocom that I've had for several years be used/transferred to other Discovery 2 without much trouble?

It is not VIN specific. As long as the Nanocom has the correct production modules loaded, you can use it on the another chassis from the same production module, eg, Disco 2.

I got very lucky early this year and bought one at a great price. I checked the software version vs. the Nanocom site and found it was not the most recent version. Probably not necessary, but I wanted to update it. But, I needed to be the registered owner to get the update. I contacted Nanocom and they made the process easy; didn't balk.

But if you want to be a nice guy, you could do the upgrade before delivering it to the new owner. The version I got in February is "ReleaseBBS_137". I still have the exe file and could send it to you if you like.

I recollect a couple of years ago that my 10 yr old Nanocom needed a firmware upgrade. I was trying to program a key for a friend and could not do so until I updated my firmware.
