Default Near constant drivetrain whine now...

I posted a couple of weeks ago about a whine in my drivetrain during acceleration / maintaining speed at ~75mph. Made the 700 miles from Nashville to Tampa no problem but the couple hundred miles down here has now led to a near-constant whine that now increases in volume at ~38mph and again at 75. I've changed all diff/transfer case/transmission fluids and greased both driveshafts. Still there.

Return trip is tomorrow. Don't wanna be stranded since I have my 3 year old with me. Wish me luck! Ideas on sound? I should mention that I incorporated the spare tire into the rotation about a month ago and it has about 3/16 inch more tread than the others. There was no pulling to either side so I left it. Did it cause the whining? I can't recall if it was there beforehand or not...

Put the other tire back on.
Rotating the spare which is bigger around than the other tires will put extra strain on the driveline.

You can do it for a short amount of time but not for a long trip, thats why its called a "spare tire"

Yeah Spike first thing I did when I got here was put spare back. We'll see how it goes...hate that I possibly (probably?) caused it. Oh well...

Did you lube the new drive shaft before installing it, have you checked and or changed the fluids in the t/case and diffs?

made it without issue...phew! No increase in noise afterward either. Would Lucas oil stabilizer do as it claims and decrease whine in transfer case / diffs? or should I just continue as-is until it decides to worsen and thus allow me to determine the noise's origin?

Overall I'm impressed with the vehicle's performance...1600+ miles over the week, zero failures, 16.6MPG with AC on 85% of the time. Burned no oil. Eh, pretty uneventful overall. No exciting tales to tell.

Thanks for the responses...Brian

No, it won't help. You need to get the truck up on a ramp and have a mechanic listen to both diffs. , t/case and tranny and see which is trying to die on you.
