need advice on aligning crank sensor

Have a friend hold the wire from the top as you work from the bottom. I spent an hour trying to reconnect it myself. When I got someone to help it took all of 2 minutes.

Thank you for your advice, and it was indeed, two minutes. I am uncertain whether I would remove the exhaust for the next go round, as dis-assembly was easy. Also, after researching this topic I had no idea the CPS was so problematic; in fact, I wonder if it should go on the list for high mileage Rovers? Thanks again for your assistance.

No problem. I'll probably remove the exhaust if this ever happens again. I also bought a spare to keep in the truck after mine died in the middle of a trail.

Exactly my thought. There are many things that can go wrong with a Disco, but in most cases, you can repair on the spot and limp home, but when the darn engine will not start....We typically go where there is no cell phone coverage, so I too, will be buying a spare......
