Default Need advice on Replacing the Starter Inhibitor

I have a 2003 disco, the M&S light were flashing and it threw a trouble code p0705. According to Rave and others on this board it is the Switch Gear Position Indicator or Starter Inhibitor that is bad. I have already replaced the battery, so it is not low voltage and anytime you shift really quick into reverse or drive it will throw on the M&S lights. So my guess is it is corroded from water or the contacts on the inside are bad.SO my question is, looking at Rave it shows you need a special tool LRT-44-011 to align the selctor shaft and the new switch has anybody done this without the tool. Any advice.

Thanks,
Tex

I bet Tacomatech knows this one. He is a Rover mechanic.
