Default Need for electric fan?

So my fan is fubar. It has been for awhile. I have the 180 inline thermo mod and it runs at 188.6 on a regular basis. I was climbing Vail pass on a hot day and it climbed to a whopping 198.

So my question is this. Is there any reason to replace the fan or just chuck it because it gets in the way of airflow?

Which fan are you talking about? The A/C fan?

You need the Efan for the A/C to operate properly. Toyota Corolla & Honda Odyssey main engine Efan motor is the same exact as the one on the D2.

The condenser fan only comes on with 80+ ambient Temps. So if your area isn't getting that hot then your fan wouldn't be activating anyway.

The A/C will work, but not as efficiently. It can cause your High Pressure Side on the A/C system to soar if say your sitting in traffic or at idle when no air is being pushed thru the condenser as you are driving.

80+ is where it's supposed to come on, but I've had mine turn on way sooner than that with the A/C on. Spend 60.00 and you'll be good to go.

An Efan motor off of any of these vehicles should fit into our D2 fan housing.

198 not exactly cool for when underway.

Why not replace it? Your Disco, do as you like and report back if temps go down.

That's cool if he was climbing a steep hill.

Not in my experience. Maybe if he had 4000 lbs behind him.

So you've never approached 200 degrees when climbing several miles in second gear at 60mph?
