Default Need Help with Codes... vss???

Twice last week truck would studder and I would get OBD code p0503, which seems to be for my Speed Sensor. I would clear it, and drive fine a couple days, then would do it again.

How do I know if it's for the front or rear?

This week, after highway acceleration truck would studder then go back to normal. Leaving these codes:
p0513
p0603
p0403
p0823

Are all these related? and what would I need to do to address them ?

Thanks in advance...

...that's just what the code reader displayed. I have no idea, and trying not to go to dealer. Too many codes. :S

I've found this website to be very useful: Equus Products, INC.

Make sure to select Land Rover for make (duh)

e.g.

P0513- Incorrect Immobilizer Key

P0603- Powertrain Control Module Keep Alive Memory (KAM) Error

P0403- Exhaust Gas Recirculation Control Circuit

P0823- Gear Lever X Position Sensor Circuit Intermittent

Hope this helps.

Thanks for you recent reply to my thread...

I was using the ELM Bluetooth w/Torque for Android to read the codes I originally posted(cool readouts, but not the most accurate for OBDII codes.)

Today I went to Advance Auto and used a 'real' code reader and got 'normal' codes. They were 'too lean' and 'misfires'.
I suspect it to be oil leaking from my valve covers. I finally bought a 8mm 12pt and tightened (they were loose) Hopefully it was just oil from valve covers causing the misfire...

More to come...

i was going to say that mix of codes makes no sense. what codes are you really getting now. whats the mileage on your truck? are you losing coolant? have you done headgaskets yet? are you losing power? have you checked the oil for contamination?

Not losing Coolant
Heads (June 09)
Thermostat (Jan10)

TB plate&Hose (Jan11)
Plugs & Mag wires (Feb11)
Oil seems fine.

Always have had a slight sputter, may be exhaust leak will have that checked this weekend.

Default code question?

I have 2001 with 130k miles. the 3 amigo have on for really long time, I have replaced the brakes when the lights first came on. the 3 amigos stayed light since that time (maybe 2.5 years). Now the check engine light occasionally falshes at me. I pulled the truck into a code reader at autozone. I got P0307 -misfire on cy. 7, P0161 & P0141 o2 sensors (bank 1&2 both sensor #2) and P1590 (manf. Control Veh Spd Idle speed control Auxilary inputs. I changed the plugs and wire for #7 and can not get rid of code P0307. going to put rest of cables on today, to see. I changed both O2 sensors on bank 1 and a O2 sensor on bank 2 sensor 2. I can get rid of this code either. I get a PING like a hockey puck hitting metal sound and feeling under my feet at about 35 mph, but no other problems. On other posts they talk about P1590 having to deal with rough road and ABS. It also sounds like the gasket at the manifold area is shot. you can hear the air from the engine combustion. Any idea on how to fix this??

Sounds like you're in serious maintenance debt. You have several unrelated problems.

Let's start with the O2 sensors - you shouldn't have bothered changing them until you fixed your exhaust leak. That was likely the real cause. Not that it hurts to changes 100+k mile O2 sensors.

Now you need to talk more about the P307. Are you resetting the codes and seeing that one come back immediately? Does it only come back after a cold start?

And about the noise - you "get" a ping? Can you feel it or just hear it? Its it every time? Does it stay consistant at 35 MPH and repeat, or just as you cross through to 35 MPH?
