Default Need help ID-ing a part (pic)

I am trying to figure out what this part is. It is right next to the rear drive shaft and was making a loud buzzing noise yesterday. Seems to be quiet now but something was definatley going on with it.

YIKES...That is not a cheap part.
I will have to do some further diag to see if I can determine what it going on there.

It's normal for them to make some noises under certain situations I think.
