Exclamation Need HELP! Strange Light problem

Hello everyone!

I have a 99 D1 SD and have this strange issue. when turning on the headlights, all of my lights go off and the passenger side headlight is dim. If i turn the light switch to parking lights, all lights turn back on and work fine, then as soon as i turn it to the headlight position again all my taillights, side markers, and dash lights turn off. Switch it back to parking lights and all come back on again.

Suggestions on where to look? I replaced the combination light switch with a known good one thinking it was the problem and it's still happening! I can't find a wiring schematic that i can make heads or tails of (used RAVE and Mitchell on Demand).

your help is GREATLY appreciated!

need to get this fixed ASAP so i can drive when dark.

Look into your dimmer switch.
I believe but am not 100% that all the lighting is routed through there.
The no dash lights really steers me that way.
Try moving the wheel and wiggling it to see if they come back on.

first thing I would do is remove both kick panel covers, remove every ground in each kick that you can find and clean them all VERY well with a wire brush, for some reason these trucks are prone to having ground problems and most of the the grounds for lights are in the kick panels.

like chris said its more often then not a bad ground somewhere or corroded connections that make up most electrical problems in rovers. bust out the electrical cleaner and wire brush and check yer connections. two things land rover needs to invest in are better gaskets and better electronics.

i think they sould cut the founding on right protecting and making the rave cd impossible to use and start a new gasket/electronics program

if you have the wiring diagrams look for thr ground symbols. they look like an upside down T with two consecutivly smaller lines underneth
