Default Need Some Advice

I took my 2000 DII to Bear Auto in Queens to have the air suspension fixed. They replaced the rear left side height sensor. There rear still doesnt stay up. By the time we got back home it was down again. The mechanic did say that there was a air bag code and possible leak, but the code went away and they drove it around before it was picked up and it was good. I called and they said the bags need to be replaced. Also there is a sound when I drive it around (after running over a traffic cone) and they said they put it up and is the front differential that needs to be replaced and that its just a coincidence that it happened after I ran over the cone.
Bottom line is that the repairs that need to be made are way to expensive for me to fix. Luckily I have a car for work that I use during the week.

I have been advised to seel the truck. I love it, but defintely can not keep up with these repairs.

My questions to you guys is what do you think I should ask for it. I want to be fair and I am defintely going to be honest and let them know that the front differential and the air suspension bags need to be replaced.

Kelly Blue books says fair condition, with some mechanical problems and tearing in the front drivers seat is $3,545 private sale. I think that is too much. What should it be?

2000 Land Rover Discovery 2
6 CD changer
116,000 miles (approx)
a few minor scuffs and scratches
front bumper is messed up (bought it 3 years ago like that)
Never had an accident in it (I think I am the 3rd owner)
Alarm
jump seats

In Queens NY.

Thanks for all your help>

You can use www.statewidelist.com to look at what Rovers are going for near you, it indexes craigslist for a whole state and groups it by metro area. You put in rovers, and price range, it shows private party and dealers.

why dont you bring it up to the bronx and have a more reputable rover repair shop work on it. there is a great place on stillwell ave. they wont take advantage of you and wont just throw parts at your truck so then you can afford to keep your truck.

Ed,

I think at this point, as much as I love the truck, after going on to british atlantic to look at parts, its not feasible to be able to fix. Thank you.

If money is tight, just get a used diff and used rear coil springs and spring seats from a salvage yard.

With those miles, if the truck is in decent shape I think that is the right money. I would put it out at $3,999 and take $3K. If the engine/trans are good (especially HG done, etc) and it has the options (ACE, Roofs, etc) and is not beat to hell that is the right money. Figure if everything else is decent (tires, etc) and someone picks it up for $3K and puts $2K into it total, they have a nice truck for $5K. Even hard to find a decent Ford Exploder for that money.

I got my 2000 Disco SE7 last month for $3K. 102K miles clean, no codes, all options work and drove it 250 miles home. I looked at few others in NJ-NY all between $3K and $4K all less than 110K miles in good shape. I think if you want to sell it, a realistic price is $2 to $2.5K.
