Default Neutral switch ?

Hello every 1.Ihave a 00 disco 2 106k, recently purchased ,have no clue mechanically, just to show you my wife
figured this problem out so i would quit cussin and yellin at it while sittin in the driveway not moving,
I have to turn the key to pos 2 and put in nuetral then push and hold in park then turn key on and itfriggin startsright up.
If she hadnt figured this out id still be out there throwin my tools (garden no need for real ones)over my neighbors fence.
anyway any1 have any thoughts hope i ve explained it ,but humiliation from the wife is a bitter pill to swallow
prior to that it didnt do anything when turnin the key

You could have one of two problems, a bad neutral saftey switch or a bad brake switch.
When it is dark out, check to see if your brake lights are working.
By the way, tell your wife she just won a few Rover browney points.

I lived in Long Beach for a couple of years, I know what you mean. I miss the beach, though.

My family started Crystal Bay marina, so I should have a place to park. Haven't been there in years, though. I have a place at Grand, but this is my first fire up on a newly re-built boat. 0 hours on it, and I have done everything except the hull. Kinda like my rover....

Neutral switch isn't too hard. go to rover-renovations.com and they will send you a Rave CD for free. It is a must if you are doing stuff yourself. Has the workshop manual and all on it. A local mechanic might be able to use it for you too.

The dealer here in town is great. I have a good relationship with the parts guys, and they cut me deals every now and then. If you have to take it in, they are good.

Good Luck with everything, and thanks for the tip, didn't know they were doing fireworks...

Jason
