I am definitely going to **** some people off, but Cannibal has a pretty terrible reputation outside of this forum. Paul Schram for one has posted many times about his problems with them, and many others have as well. Any company that changes its name repeatedly is suspicious IMO, and these guys started off as CarCannibal, then RoverCannibal, then CannibalV8. As far as I can tell, they have launched a successful campaign to un-sully their name, which almost certainly includes people who post to these forums about how great Cannibal is, but their reputation is terrible.

People keep saying CarCannibal and CannibalV8 are different companies. Take a look at these links:

Range Rover Parts Engine : Land Rover Defender Body Parts
http://www.manta.com/c/mtm81zr/rovercannibal
CannibalV8

All the same address

1118 SW 3rd Street Unit A
Oklahoma City, OK 73109-1020

BTW, here's a link about the CannibalV8 warranty on the CarCannibal site:
Range Rover Parts Engine : Land Rover Engine : Rover Used Car Parts

Note that this post talks about 'Ryan' and 'Steven' at CannibalV8:
https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...43/#post380295

Surprise! Ryan is the guy from CarCannibal.

So, I completely reject the idea that CarCannibal and CannibalV8 are two different companies.

After a quick google search, here're some threads about CannibalV8:

Need a new engine for the 2nd time... Please HELP! - DiscoWeb Message Boards
Rebuilt 3.9 Experience - DiscoWeb Message Boards
bad experience with Car Cannibal
Oklahoma is investigating vehicle parts company | News OK
Stalled payment leaves Michigan auto seller empty-handed | News OK
Anyone else have trouble getting paid by Car Cannibal?

Then there's this thread where a guy who is obviously from Cannibal shows up to defend the biz:
https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...ce-them-56943/

I personally wouldn't consider buying an engine from these guys, and I think you are crazy if you do. Maybe they've changed their unscrupulous ways, but why take a several thousand dollar risk?

Conversely, how many threads have you ever seen complaining about GPR or AB?

Car cannibal and cannibal v8 shouldn't be put in the same boat, even if they're the same company, they do different things and experiences are different.

I've been in a truck with a CV8 per recommendation from Yoops Racing, it was exceptional.

That being said, you should not assume that because you don't read about it on a forum, does not mean the problems aren't there. The majority of rover owners are not on forums, and I hear about bad engines from previously mentioned establishments quite a bit. Can you guess the labor on removing a bad engine, then the labor on installing and uninstalling 2 "new" engines and finally installing 1 good one?

I'm pretty sure they're only sold through cannibal v8. CannibalV8

do your own research and see exactly what your getting for your hard earned money. also check for extra$$, is everything included like this one or is everything an up-charge (like a camshaft)

I will maybe buy a new engine in the summer or rebuild my own. If i buy it would be the GPR engine. Just seem to be more reputable than Cannibal.

Reputations aside; I think GPR gives you more bang for your buck

Also regarding this ^

Car Cannibal used to be Rover Cannibal but was sent a JLRNA letter saying they couldn't use Rover in their name(like every other company that isn't allowed to)
Cannibal V8 is the engine side, and car cannibal is still a used parts seller, no change there.

So technically they've never changed their name on their own accord.

However, since you say that's an issue, perhaps we can shed some light on the name change that GPR had from "OKLAHOMA EUROPEAN LLC" a couple years back. Seems odd that they needed to do that, don't you think?

Either way I'm not trying to bash any company, just that CV8 gets an unfair reputation when they're putting out some seriously quality rebuilds. My friend just finished his build with the CV8 and that truck is crazy.

We'll see when Erick finishes his build.
