new battery, good alternator, no charge?
The battery light lit up on the way home 2 nights ago. I assumed it was the alternator, charged the battery overnight and took it to an alternator/auto electric shop and it tested good. He told me to replace the battery and belt. Since the belt is brand new, i went and picked up a battery. Ran great for the next 15-20 miles and, the new battery went dead. Cranked it again this morning, the voltage reads as such.
From alternator (truck running)- 14.5v
Inside fuse box under hood fuse# F1- 14.5v(alternator side)-11.5v(battery side)
Battery- 11.5v running or not.

Not sure what that fuse is, but did you try replacing it. Sounds like the alternator works, but it's not getting any power to the battery to charge it and you're running the battery dead. Must be a bad connection somewhere, did you check all the wiring, connections and fuses between the battery and alternator?
Okay, I looked the the wiring schematic (which I've never 100% figured out yet) and it looks like there is a 150 amp fusible link (Link 1) between the alternator and battery.Did you test the F1 or the FL1 fuse strip?That fuse strip could have a small crack in it that you can not see.If so that may be it.Just a thought.
I'm pretty sure it's that fuse, i've pulled it and am trying to find one locally, my local rover dealer cant have one until next week. When i put it on a tester it shows OL, I'm no electrician but a goodfuse should show something on my meter.
If it is the 150 amp fuse strip and it isn't melted, it is not the fuse.
Take your truck down to your local auto parts store and have them load test the battery and the alternator.

Let us know what you find. I have an old Mercedes and apparently it's not uncommon fortheglow plug fuse strip to develop a hairline crack in it and stop working, but that is in a 25 year old vehicle.
Similar issue with my discovery 96.
It is me again about my electrical issue. I checked the new alternator for grounding and I found out that it is not connected to ground. The Mechanic who changed the alternator did
not connected the cables correctly after the repair. I am not sure if ground is the one of the middle (center) or the one of the button.
Note: when I checked the voltage while the car was running itpresented 6 volts on the center and 6 volts on the lower connectors.
Please tell me if I should connect ground to the middle or to the lower connection.
