This thread is just sort of an update for my Land Rover discovery series ii. Firstly I have never had a diagnosis tool beforehand and I suggest buying one if you don't have it. I am now constantly checking my car. And on Friday I had the codes P1412 & P1415 in pending with no SES light. Knowing I was getting an oil change but my mechanic (no jiffy lube or Walmart or some other place like that) I called him on Monday to check it out. Those two codes, P1412 & P1415, at least from my understanding have to do with the secondary air injection or SAI.

This morning it was 24 degrees when I started her and let it warm up as I went and poured coffee. No SES light when she started and by the time I took a quick **** and poured my coffee the SES light was on. I plugged in my kw808 and received codes P1414 & P1417 and the other codes were gone. My mechanic said the codes have progressed.

Any suggestions?

Check all the vacuum lines they are quite small and as they age are really easy to either knock off or come loose. Had the same codes took a look at all the lines and 1 tiny vacuum line was off.

 

The lines themselves are pretty robust it’s the rubber ends that fail. You can get new ones at any auto parts store. 1412/1415 = check main hose from pump to SAI Pipe, check or replace the solenoid mounted on the intake behind the throttle body, check all lines/nipples.

My 500.00 wonder had those two faults and the lines got melted across the exhaust manifold.

Depending on the year you also need to make sure a nipple hasn’t broken off the little vacuum ball for the SAI. It’s mounted in different places for 99-02 (by the intake tube) & on 03-03 it’s mounted to the SAI pump bracket.

 

Thank you all for your input. As a semi newbie to Disco's (this is my second one) I checked what i think were the vacuum lines and no issues. I checked the SAI pump, (which makes a high pitched noise, like an airplane at start up) and there is nothing loose or unplugged. Do you all have any pictures of where to look? i think i am looking in the right place but i just want to make sure. I have an 03 Discovery SE. 113k on the odometer. Thank you all for the help!
