Default New D2 upper radiator hose. Plastic bleeder screw not getting snug/tight

I Just received and installed a new upper radiator hose assembly on my 99 D2. As I was finishing up and checking tightness on all my clamps, I decided I should check the plastic bleed screw. Knowing these screws are a bit tender, I approached this very carefully. After a few turns of the screw that should have been enough to snug the screw down,.....I was not feeling any snugness or tightness developing at all. I am thinking that this hose might be defective or possibly a damaged and returned unit. It appeared new when I received it. It was listed as a "Vollig" brand on ebay.

Any thoughts?

If I remember right, I think there's a brass screw you can get to replace those. I think it's a BMW part or something like that. Don't quote me though. I'm too old to have a good memory anymore.
For the time being, if you need the truck, you could try a little Teflon tape and see if it will tighten a little better.
Good luck!

Yup here's the link, I just bought one for my radiator hose. The plastic screw gets brittle from the engine heat and eventually cracks, coolant goes everywhere, engine starts overheating, ask me how I know, no bueno.

I would ask for a replacement! That's BS. Tell them you are trying to rig it for your commute until the replacement comes in and then you will return the original junk after the replacement is installed and confirmed good working order.

Is the O ring in there? It does the sealing. Also look for flashing from the mold and make sure all the surfaces are smooth. The brass screws are pretty but remember the screw is get tighten barely past finger tight. The factory hose has two yellow dots that line up when the screw is "tight".
