Default New Disco owner, pic's & ?'s

Hello!
New to the forum and Land Rovers. A little about me.... I'm from eastern PA, I always had Toyotas, 4runners and Land Cruisers. I always did all my own wrenching and stayed away from the stealerships. Sold all my "Toys" a couple years ago, still have an 08 sequoia but that is the family truckster/camper hauler, I've been zipping around in a Subaru outback for the past couple years. Anyway our oldest turned 16 about 6 months ago. She wanted a wrangler, we bought her one but then after getting her permit and driving on the road she decided 5-speed wasn't for her right now. Sold the wrangler about 4 months ago and have been looking for something ever since.
I always liked the Discovery's (and Defenders) and looked into buying one myself years ago. So when she said she liked them I started looking. Found a few and looked at a couple. Ended up buying a well kept 1999 series II.

It's a 99 Disco II with 106k. We bought it from the 2nd owner. He bought it in 09 with 99k. The original owner took it to the dealer for everything and kept all service records and receipts.

Issues:
I't does have a few issues. 3 amigos, cruise does not work, yesterday morning the rear drivers side was hanging low and now this morning the whole rear is dragging. It pumps up after starting but the SLS is obviously leaking.

I think I have Disco fever because I'm looking for one for myself now.

Thats a nice looking D2. As far as the airbags go though, unless you're in love with them I would swap to coils. I had SLS on my 99 that would leak down over night. I replaced the bags and made sure there were no leaks but 6months later it was leaking down over night again. Swapped to coils and now there's no headache plus I prefer the feel of coils over bags.

Don't get me wrong it is a nice feature if you pull a lot of trailers and stuff, but you said you've got a sequoia for that.

Oh yeah the fog lights also are not working. The only thing I've done so far is check fluid levels and put gas in it. The light does not come on on the switch on the dash so hopefully it's just a fuse.

agree with ^ great if you tow. comfortable ride, but not worth the headache, imo.
as for cruise, megaton of folks have issues with it. vacuum leak was my issue. replaced lines and presto. but it could be a couple of other thing as well.

prolly a fuse. easy to get to and test the fogs
going to have to get your hands on a tool that will diagnose the abs issue.

Yeah I read that you can swap out the bags with coils. The bags are nice but I will probably put the coils in and eliminate the problem and worry.
I think I saw if you do swap in coils you have to reprogram something? If so how involved is that?

yep, good idea to get the computer to know you don't have bags. so you do not get a drain on juice. but I have been needing to do that for a few years and have not had an issue yet.

I hope I can put everything off until warmer weather, my garage is not heated. The fogs and cruise don't matter and so far the bags still inflate and hold once started (only deflate after sitting overnight). Would rather wait until it at least goes above freezing. LoL

you should be fine. I hear that squatting the rear down to the axle stops is a new hipster dufus trend look, anyway.
