You don't HAVE to reprogram the computer. I never had mine reprogrammed because I don't know anyone with a computer to do it and I didn't want to drive an hr to the dealership.

I removed the relays under the hood that go to the SLS, and then I forget which ground it is but if you remove the SLS ground wire that is on 1 of the 2 ground post above the battery box then you remove the risk of it draining the battery. (I don't think it's a must for everyone to remove the ground. Some have to and some don't)

Lastly if you unplug both height positioning sensors on the rear then it won't beep at you when you start driving over 20mph.

The only issue going this route is that the raised bag light on the dash stays on all the time.

Thanks for all the info.

I was sagging again this morning.
Anyone know how much new bags cost? Also what do coils run if I decide to swap the bags with coils. Any links (if links are allowed on the forum) to good places to get parts and assecories would be appreciated.

I like the air ride and would like to keep it if it's not to expensive to fix and keep working properly. But I'm not against eliminating it since coils is pretty much a once and done fix. If I go coils I would just remove relays and disconnect the power to the pump.

It warmed up to about 38 already today so I looked into the fog lights...... Easy fix! Turned out the fuse was just missing. Couldn't find a 15amp so I put in a 25 just to see and.......

I won't use them until I get to a store and buy some 15 amps.

When I made this post I knew I was forgetting something.... The oil light seems to have a mind of its own. It goes on and off while driving for no apparent reason, comes on all different times. I checked the oil and it's good, actually it's slightly above full. I don't think that would cause the light to come on. Everything thing sounds good, no valves taping or knocking or anything out of the ordinary. I'm really hoping it's not a bad pump, bad sending unit maybe?

Any ideas on the oil light going off and on while driving??

Regarding the oil light - proceed with caution. Light can indicate oil pump failure among other things.

I dug out an old VCR/DVD player and hooked it up just to watch them. Didn't watch the off roading one yet though.

Not sure if you just want to watch them or want the originals just to have them. My grandfather used to have a DVD/VCR combo that would burn the VHS onto a disc. If your interested I could see if he still has it and maybe burn them on a disc for ya.

Yes this.

You can get another sensor at napa for like $13 to see if that is the issue. If not, I wouldnt keep driving it.

Replace the oil light sensor first. I got one from autozone for about $7. You can replace it without losing any oil too, but if you haven't changed the oil yet I'd do that and use a good filter. My favorite is the napa gold filters.

My mom had my oil changed once at a jiffylube while I was out of state and they overfilled it and the oil light didn't like that.

300$ for two rear airbags. 300 (-/+) for the rear coil conversion. You could just get a lift also, from looking at your previous trucks you might end up taking that route eventually. If that's the case you can get a 2'' lift from Terra Firma for 550$ with a rear coil conversion, front coils, and +2'' shocks all around, or go with the Old Man Emu lift which I don't know the price.

Enjoy learning about another brand of truck

I'm from the New Hope area and also had a Disco II recently join the family (2001 with 117K miles). Been fixing this, that and the other.

My cruise did not work because the brake light switch was bad. Replaced with a new style and all better.

The airbag leak should be pretty easy to find. If it is the lines (connectors) then they can be fixed. If the bags then a new set (or spring conversion) is in your future. Sounds like you should be able to hear a leak this bad or detect with water sprayed on the bags or hose connections (top of bags). The pump and solenoids are under the vehicle (driver's side second row footwell) and there are two 1/4 turn fasteners holding on a plastic cover. The three lines there are the only other connections. The most expensive part of the system is the pump, so if yours is working you should try and save the SLS.

I did a 2" lift recently which included a spacer under each airbag. In the worst case scenario, you would have a nice excuse to replace the bags with new ones while installing the lift

I'll Try changing the oil & filter first. The guy I bought it off of said the last time he changed the oil he was putting 10w 40 back in but ran out so he topped it off with a different weight, I believe he said 20w....something. If changing the filter and oil doesn't work I'll get a new sensor.

Dane,
Thanks for the info, that gives me a good idea on prices.
I was thinking about lifting it in stead of putting stock height springs in the back but I need to remember that I bought this for my daughter, if it was mine that would be a no brainer. LoL

CBRacer,
Cool, I'm about 15 minutes west of Allentown.

I read somewhere about the cruise not working if the 3rd brake light was out. Mine is working though. I'll look into when the weather gets a little nicer.
I would like to keep the air bag system on this one, I'm looking for one for me (see link below).
I didn't realize you could lift these and keep the SLS.
