Default New to forum, basic question

Hello All, bought my wife an '04 model w/ 39K miles, and we've never owned a car that has 4WD before so I'm not sure of what's required to keep up the front gearbox (is that the differential?) I would assume I need to keep the fluids replaced in there. Also we're still under factory warranty and will be getting a complimentary 45k service by the dealer (this was offered for '03 and '04 models the dealer informed me so if anyone else has this be sure and see if you can get that done free of charge) so I think they'd probably take care of whatever needs to be done. Also I'll be buying an extended warranty a few months before we're at our normal factory term (about 9 months from now)....
Thanks in advance,
Walter

Walter,
I have a '96 Disco I, but should be similar. It has two differentials, a transfer case, an auto transmission, two swivel pin housings (behind front wheels), and of course a crankcase for oil.
All these things take either oil or grease, and there are u-joints also, but they are usually sealed. If you can get anything free from the dealer - go for it !
