Default New here, great forum

Don't own 1 yet and don't know much about them.

Currently looking at a 2001 Discovery II SD with 116k miles. Are there any years to stay away from? Original owner vehicle with all repair work and maintenance done at land rover.

What do I need to look out for with this model?

Thanks

Check the front drive shaft to see if it has been rebuilt. Have the head gaskets been done?

The stickies at the top of the forum a good place to start the homework, theres no such thing as too much reading. What are you looking to do with the vehicle should you buy it? and as SDinDS said the front drive shaft is question one. welcome.

That's good. If you can find one that has been properly maintenance and loved on, it should serve you right.

What you looking to drive it for? fun or work? maybe little of both?

99-01 are good years, you can hook up center locking differential in those (if your into off roading). 02-03 you cannot (least not easily). 03 had some faulty manufacturing on the oil pump assembly (not the pump itself but the mounts/holes or something that hold it into place). 04 was the best year, but also the most expensive to find.

01 with that kinda maintenance records and low miles should be a good truck. I would definitely give it a look, test drive it, and talk to the owner. Also look at a few trucks, don't put all your eggs in one basket. Drive them all. This is important.
