Default New here, need help...

I recently bought my first Land Rover... it is a used '01 Discovery II with 182,000 miles... it has lots of issues and I don't know much about auto mechanics, so I will be here reading/posting to try to fix this thing up... I am an electrician but do not have many mechanic skills or the best tools.. so any and all help is very appreciated, if anyone on here that sees this happens to be near OKC, OK, I would very much like to meet you and would like to make a friend that could help teach me how to fix this up and keep it up...

Issues known:

windshield trim is broken and falling off, back bumper is broken and continues to break apart (brittle)
the only key I was given is the Ignition key and it does NOT seem to fit the door locks, so I
can't lock it, I was NOT given any kind of remote
power steering is out, I put in fluid and it worked better for a few moments, but then went back to not working and had no fluid, could be a hose, but not sure where or how to fix it
there are MULTIPLE little hoses (possibly vacuum) that have been removed from something or another and just zip-tied up all around the front
the radio has been removed and replaced with a nice new one, but it is not secured and just slides back and forth in hole, and does not have power or work at all
front passenger window does not move with switch
neither sunroof moves at all with switch but both leaked like crazy, I have performed a fix to stop the leak for now
the horn does not work, I found the 10A fuse blown, replaced, hit horn once and fuse is blown, replaced with 15A fuse, fuse is blown on first time hitting horn, need help fixing that
I found three spark plug wires damaged or broken once I got it, bought new spark plugs and wires, while replacing wires found one was corroded and broken off into ignition coil, causing new wire not to fit into coil
engine stays in LIMP mode
scanned codes and found I need to replace two O2 sensors, and maybe the camshaft position sensor, and a problem with A/C compressor
my A/C and Heater blower does NOT blow at all

Wow, yes you have a lot of issues. I hope you got it for scrap price. I would probably consider buying a better Disco and consider this one a parts vehicle.
If you continue with this one I think you should take one issue at a time and work through it. This is a great D2 forum with a lot of very helpful knowledgeable people on it, but it’s difficult to help out on all these issues at once.

Well you are in the right place, a quick search should answer most of your questions. I recommend numbering your issues in a numbered list, search on them one at a time. Grab the most recent thread and tag on to the end of it if you have further questions but all your issues are very common.

Well I would start with electrical these are very fussy about voltage etc, and blowing fuses on a horn is not a good thing. I will say it will be very painful, it sounds almost like someone was going to pull the engine changed their mind and slapped it back together. But given the overall state crawl underneath and check the frame, if it is rotten take the loss and move on.

IF the frame is good start simple :
  1. Dump and check the state of the oil, any water or milkshake look (yellowish/white)
  2. If you are dumping P/S fluid - by some U/V dye and U/V light add the dye fill it up run the engine put teh U/V light on it- that stuff really glows. That should find the leak.
  3. Sunroofs likely motors, trim and rear bumper ignore until you get everything else sorted and know the truck is worth keeping
  4. Codes you need a reader that reads Land rover codes generic is only good for basics - but until you get the vacuum lines and electric sorted there is not much point.
Check your dash lights make sure they all come on when you turn the key

Finally pictures of the engine compartment, and various zip tied hoses would help

I recently ordered a new (uncut) remote fob key on Walmart site, of all places. It cost me about $21 or so. I'll be getting it shortly, and we will see if it works. If it does, I'll let y'all know. Make sure that the door lock works at all; it could have been replaced from an another vehicle, or it may have a broken link, like in my case. If the key just spins around with nothing happening, it's likely the link pin, which costs about $30 either on eBay or on that website, which someone already posted here. The rear bumper, I am sure, is the least of your issues. Later one just get a nice steel off-road bumper and be done with it, IMHO. Address the major issues first, not the lock and key or bumper, or windshield trim issues ))
