Default New Hood Black-Out...

So, I finally got around to doing the hood blackout on my truck a couple of weekends ago. It was a major PITA, but it turned out very well!

The overlay graphic was especially difficult, but the end result was worth the effort and frustration!

Nice work. I really like the compass. Now you just need to install the needle. I have 2 cans of flat black primer somewhere that I am planning to use to do my hood black out. I'm too cheap to buy the big sticker since I know I'd screw up putting it on.

Yeah, I just resprayed mine this summer. After 8 years the first spray was fading some and had some scratches. Not that I was cheap, I just couldn't see spending $60-$90 for something I could do for $10.

Hey guys, thanks for the kind words. It was definitely a tedious procedure! And, believe it or not, I did it all by myself with my 3 and 5 year-old sons running around and my wife out of town! LOL

I thought for sure I'd ruined it more than once, but the vinyl is amazingly resilient. Use lots of soapy water between the hood and the vinyl and you'll be fine. Oh, and make sure you're putting it down on a hood that's cool to the touch! I learned the hard way on that one and it made the job MUCH more difficult because it was drying out my water and sticking tight much before I was ready for it too!

For those of you that want vinyl and would prefer not to spray a hood blackout, see Vigg Designs and they'll hook you up. He's a Rover enthusiast too, and has done some really cool stuff!

That looks spectacular Bryce, you've inspired me to do a hood blackout myself. In a few months :P
