I have just bought a 96 Disco and there is a ticking coming from the part circled in the pic. I was woundering if this is normal and the parts name/function. I have a haynes coming in the mail but not sure if this is a parts that needs to be replaced before i drive it much. Sorry for coming off as a newb, but i am this is my first LR and i come from a Jeep background so not used to the crowed engine compartment. Thank You all in advance for ur time and help . Ken

It is normal sound it is used to burn the fumes from the
gas tank. It is called a Purge valve.
Crowded under the hood, you should see a Disco II.
