Default New member w/ questions.

Okay, I have a few questions about my Discovery II HSE7.
It is a 2003, and some of the problems I am having are:

The weather Sealing is leaking water through almost every window, including sunroofs. Where can I find Discovery II sealing material, and if it is specially cut for the Discovery II?

On occasion when I am driving the Parking Brake Light will come on or flash on. Doesn't matter what speed or Driving conditions, it just comes on. Any ideas?

Also there are some things I would like to upgrade/replace:
The Air Filter system, I would like to upgrade to a better flow system and attach a Snorkel system myself.
The Brakes, I would like to upgrade to the best 4 wheel disc brakes there are that will fit this vehicle. I live in Northen Minnesota on the snowy icy hills of Duluth. I need great dependable brakes, prefferably slotted w/ holes.

That's all I know of right now I need help with. If there Is anything else you think I could install to better the performance and efficiency please let me know.

Thanks.

If your brake light is coming on while driving you could be low on brake fluid. Another reason could be a faulty brake fluid sensor on the brake reservoir. You probably want to go ahead and do a 3 qt brake flush and top off the reservoir.

Not sure about your leaking problem, I have a 00-Disco with no sun roofs. Do a search for weather striping and I'm sure you will find many threads.

Akebeno brake pads work really well and I like the Bosch Rotors, they are not slotted but really work well with the pads.

As far as snorkels...the two most popular are the Safari and the Mantec

You might want to look up the transmission problems.

I think your skylight drain hoses may be clogged. You can open the sky lights fully all the way back. Look in the corners to find where the drains are. I would use a hose attached to air compressor blower. Stick the piece of hose in the drain hose to clear out the debris from each skylight hole. The front drain hoses go down the A pillars. The back hoses go to the B pillars.

slotted and drilled rotors are actually worse on a rover then the regular ones. Reason is the salt rusts them out very quickly and you go from a decent ride to pulsating within a few months. Seen it with all the rovers that have them. Seen it on other cars with the same setup.

The leaks may be the sunroof drains clogged or more likely the door frames were removed and the frames were not installed properly. They should have very little gap, you should have them right up against the top of the body. look at the doors to see if they are pushed out or even if they wiggle. if the door frames wiggle then the bolts are loose as well.

Thanks Ralph, I will look at those. The leaking is really strange to me, it comes in through the sun roofs and comes out through the sun visors. It like the sun doesn't think i'm getting wet enough!

Transmission? Well I would have to say, yes I do have a transmission problem, it has a real slow leak in the pan, I know there is a way to read the Fluid Level underneath, but I have been able to locate it. The dealership says, anything to do with the transmission has to be done by them.!!$$$!!

Any recommendations?

The stealership is lying to you, they can not force you to use them for service! Is this under an extended warranty with them?

Your drain lines for the sun roof may be clogged search the threads for sunroof drain.

Thanks man, about those drains. Are the visible to the naked eye, or do I have to take of the headliner, or are the on the top of the vehicle? Also have no idea what you mean when you say " A Pillars, B Pillars" friend said it meant the part of the body between the windows?
