Default New purchase?

OK, I found a few write ups on the 2003 disco II, oil pump problem. The vin # is 3a790162. It falls in the 3a 78 to 3a80 range, Do I stay away from it? Do the motors have a slight sound to them, like lifters? It ha 87k on it and needs the valve covers resealed. Everything works and is in great condition. What do I do? Buy it? thanks

if it falls within the bad oil pump range I would stay away from it..plenty of good cheap rovers on the market

I would stay away from all of the 2003's. Unfortunately some 2003's out of the vin range have also experienced oil pump failures. Keep looking, with fuel prices climbing, more Land Rovers will come on the market and most likely for less.

buick makes a good point about fuel prices. They're saying it might hit $4/gallon this summer..people will be paying you to take the rover off their hands.
