Default New radiator w/ pictures

Just bought a new 04' Disco II and decided to overhaul the cooling system as a start. The previous owner did some jenky *** stuff like JB weld the plastic cooling hoses and such. I bought the 180deg t-stat and all new hose kit from lucky8. It took me about 4 hours to complete, here are some pics:

Radiator was a no-name from ebay ~100bucks. Temperatures are 188 consistent while driving, 185 freeway, idle 190-194 consistently.

Nasty jb weld on the entry point to radiator, hose crack fix in between

new 180deg t-stat

Before

Radiator removed

Brand new plumbing

Trying to fit it back in

After, installed

Looks good.
You might want to be sure and wash all the coolant off the belt with clean water, or you next post will be........

Ha, I figured it would just fly off... But maybe I should. Or just buy a new belt at this point since I just got the truck.

Yes, smart to get a new belt.
Go for a GATES K070922 (w A/C, No ACE) or a GATES K071065 (w AC and ACE).
You can get a good price at RockAuto or these can be had at any NAPA. Go with a GATES Belt and you will be glad you did!

Gates & Dayco (not the value line stuff) have been excellent. Only those 15.00 wonders = I wouldn’t trust for more than a trail repair.

Hope you reinstalled the fan shroud. I didn't see it pictured, but you definitely need it if nothing more than just to hold the hoses out of the fan.

Otherwise, looks great!

Those exactly the temps I have since swapping my thermostat no matter what the outside temp say 20 C down -8 C in BC. My Disco is very consistent, and that is really what is most critical.

I do need to to replace the fan and clutch - but I don't expect big changes.
