New speakers
im wanting to get all new speakers because the land rover ones make weird plastic creaking noises but i was wondering if i can keep the stock head unit and run the speakers off an amp and the sub box on the rear door i want to remove the land rover subs and put in new ones if possible i just want everything to look stock
Yes, you can. The factory amp at least in my '04 with the premium sound system does a pretty good job with the drivers in the doors. I have an aftermarket head unit running through the amp to 6 1/2 inch Pioneer 2-ways that I bought for $30 off Amazon. I just cut the feeds to the tweeters and installed them in the stock locations. For the subs, I installed a pair of Kicker 6 inch subs and I'm powering them with a separate amp I installed under the passenger seat. I will eventually make the sub enclosure air-tight but for now it sounds decent. The Pioneers actually made a huge difference on their own. If you are using the factory head unit, I'd start there and see how it sounds. That might be all you need to do.
