Default newb oil filter question

1st discovery normally a jeep xj/zj/wj guy.. Changing the oil. Picked up a filter get home and it is incorrect. Everywhere including atlantic british show it as a short fat filter were as mine is a long skinny guy. adapter looks correct so its not the wrong filter I don't think. Part is a service pro m195 filter. WTF...I was able to cross it and get a filter but was wondering if anyone could tell me wtf is up with my engine. The filter that it calls for oem is like my old jeep filters.

Not sure what you are referring too. The type of filter to use? The oil leaking?

FRAM PH16 or PH8A = good cross reference #'s (I do not recommend FRAM filters, but P/N is good for reference)

Looks like quicky lube just threw on whatever they had that fit. No harm done. I use the longer Mobil M1-301 or equivalent filters.

PH16 is the Jeep 4.0 filter! I bought a lot of those back in the day

M301 = FRAM PH8A cross reference filter. PH16 = OEM size filter for 99-04 D2, however larger PH8A size M301, K&N HP3001, and so on are preferred.
