Newbie ?
I have the read the stickey and post about driveshaft rebuilds. I have a couple questions?
I just bought a 1999 DISCO, 104K. Headgasket was done, but I have records of driveshaft or tranny, etc. I plan on further investigation this weekend. It drives great! No noise, etc. Should I change the Ujoint anyway?
Do you do both front and rear shaft?
Thanks,
Bill

If your front driveshaft does not have three grease-able u-joints, YES: change them!!!
The rear driveshaft u-joint should be replaced if there is any play in it, or it does not take grease from a grease gun.

OK I got underneath - looks like it hasn't been done. I will buy parts and get to it. Can you give exact part numbers? Exactly what I need?
Did the factory install ujoints with greaseable joints?

The Precision part numbers for the three joints (and also the one joint on the rear shaft) are 344. The centering ball on the front shaft is a Precision 617. There are other brands that will work, if you just search this forum.
The only grease-able joints from the factory are the front joints on both the front and rear shaft. The two joints that make the double-cardan joint at the rear of the front shaft, never came from the factory as grease-able, even though they are right next to the converter, and get water dripped on them from the A/C evaporator.
