Default Newbie looking for advice

Hi All,

Been browsing the forum - loads of useful information!

However, thought it was about time to ask a couple of questions.

Long story short, I've been leasing a brand new pick-up for a couple of years (Mitsubishi). I'm into outdoor sports and would like something of my own, that I'm not too precious about.

So, after originally considering a Disco TD3 - I've changed my mind (mainly based on the terrible reputation that the TD3 has) and am looking at a Series 2.

I'm looking at bolting a roof tent to it, doing some green lane activities and will also use it for some off-road rough shooting.

So, my question is - is the series 2 still a good buy for 2020? I'm happy to spend up to £6k on one - which will leave me some left over for initial maintenance.

I'd be able to change brake pads and discs, do an oil change and filters myself. Other than that - any extra work I'd look for a garage to do.

Is my budget realistic? Any advice/tips/hints that I should be aware of before jumping in?

Thanks!

No idea you will need to browse an English forum, series trucks go for a ton over here if they are are in good shape.
