Default Can't get into low gear!!!!!

I have a 2000 LR2 and when I originally bought it at 109,000 Mi I would put the vehicle in neutral and I would hear a notification beeping sound and then I was able to switch to low gear. Now all of a sudden when I put it in neutral I don't hear a beeping sound and I cannot switch to low gear. I have no flashing lights or codes popping up. Also I can switch into all gears with no problems. The little red light on the shifter lights up while in neutral but doesn't light up while it's in reverse. The N shows up on my dashboard next to my odometer and it rolls fine in neutral.

Yours beeped when the trans was in N? Mine has never done that.

Mine does beep and there is a light on the dash when the T-case is between H and L.

Yeah it's weird. I used to have the same noise once shifted but now I can't shift lever. I tried reaching up from below to check cable and solenoid but no room to get a wrench inside. Guess it's time to take out the center console and drill out the rivets. ....

Something is wrong here. That beep you were hearing wasn't likely a notification that you were able to switch into neutral. It was a warning indicator that your transfer case isn't in gear.

Test it out tonight. Put the tranny in neutral, move the TC case to neutral, put the tranny in gear. You will hear your beeps / chimes again.

Happens to mine a lot as sometimes my position switch doesn't recognize low range and give me a lot of nasty beeps / dash lights

Looked back at the OP.. It says LR2.. I bet this is something the LR2s do, but none of our Discovery 2's do.

OP, you'll have better luck in the LR2 section
