Default No Brake Lights (3rd works though)

Hello, The two main brake lights don't work but the 3rd one (top of window) does. Fuses are good, bulbs are good. From searching the forums, and please correct me if i'm wrong, I think i should change a switch (headlight switch??), and check the grounds (if so where are they?). Is there anything else, and in what order would i troubleshoot? The only other wierdness with lights i think maybe just started happening yesterday, when I turn the turn signal indicator a light on the dash shows up real quick then goes away. It is on the top center of the panel and looks like a trailor. I looked underneath by the hitch and didnt see a harness.

thanks for your help! Its a 1996 Disco that we just got.

the trailer light is normal. it is written in your owner's manual. The light has for purpose to indicate if you have a burnt light on your trailer. But if you're not towing a trailer it will light every time you use your turn signals
