Default No dash climate or gear illumination

Read a lot of other threads. My tail lights work fine but my dash lights went out then the climate control stopped Illuminating and I noticed the lights around the gear selector aren't on either. Not sure what's wrong. Checked the fuses couldn't find anything. Everywhere else says if the light switch or stem is bad then my tail lights wouldn't be working and they are..

If its not a fuse then check the grounding point (Earth Header). There is a full electrical library in the link of my signature.

Should mention it's a 2004 discovery 2. Also that the lights come on when the lights are on the parking position but turn off when I swith them all the way on.. Which is really confusing to me...

Sounds like a short. Starts and runs fine?

Oh yeah everything else works fine. Starts and runs fine. Brake light tail lights and headlights including fogs front and rear all work fine. The lights come on but not when I have the headlights on so I'm just really confused. Unfortunately that's the only time I need them

I'm in a similar boat... My climate control buttons are out, but the LCD lights. I'm thinking mind is either a lose wiring harness, or I somehow managed to fry all but the LCD illumination in the climate control unit.

I have another one from Paul Grant I'm just going to swap in one of these days, but I just haven't had the time.

I have had all the bulbs go out in one of mine before. For the price of the Bulbs you can usually purchase the whole unit with working light. I'm also playing around with replacing them with LED bulbs.

I've had a bunch of bulbs go out in the climate control unit at the same time too. The LCD has a different bulb than the control buttons. there are 5 or 6 bulbs in the unit.

I'd check the bulbs to rule out the simple stuff, you can get them fairly cheap. The manual specifies the type of bulb... I think I got mine from the dealer parts dept at a reasonable price and later found they were available cheaper online.

For the OP, if your bulbs work until you turn the headlights on, that sounds like a wiring or ground issue.

So I fixed the problem finally. I went to the junkyard and found a good stem and switched it out and that didn't fix it. I then realized that it started happening after I put in a new radio so I took it out and redid my ****ty wiring job the proper way with caps and stuff and now everything works fine. I'm so happy thanks for all the advice guys!
