No forward gears
Will do! Looking at the last picture, I see a hose above the oil filter with a small stream which could be the coolant leak. But I am going to follow the steps from @Richard Gallant
It is now going forward and backwards!
I bought a transmission off Ebay. I gave it to a mechanic to install ( I don't have the tools or space to do that kind of job). It took a while. They put in the "new" transmission and it was doing the exact same thing (only going in reverse). I thought maybe it was something to do with the transfer case. Maybe it was still stuck in neutral from the 4WD shifter? Or something like that? But the shop originally wanted me to buy a new transmission and try again (after spending money on the transmission and the install). I thought it was unlikely the transmission I bought had the same exact issue. So I asked maybe it was the T case and I shared some posts about how to re-engage the T-case? But the shop did not budge on their diagnosis. I eventually asked them to release the car so I could get a second opinion. The owner/chief mechanic agreed, but he decided to do 1 last look. He found an issue, fixed it, and it was able to drive forward and backwards! And apparently the mechanic that was working on my truck was fired (not just because of my truck).
So all that to say, I changed the transmission, but maybe it was the T case all along?

Another update on the overheating. After the transmission was replaced, I took it to a mechanic and they bled some air out of the coolant system and it seems to be keeping cool!
recap: I had the overheating issue. It was pretty low on coolant. I flushed and changed the coolant. I still had the overheating issue. I took it to a mechanic, and they said they just bled some air out of it. And now it stays right in the middle. I plan to put the inline thermostat sooner or later.

Glad it's going again.
