Looking for suggestions. The heat coming out seems very weak. Sometimes cold, sometimes luke warm. this just started yesterday. Disco II 103,000 miles

 

Air in cooling system?, rusted out impeller on the water pump? Plugged up heater core? What are your temp readings?

 

D2 always has hot coolant circulating in heater core. No on/off valve. So if no heat, very likely low coolant. Heater core could be blocked, hard to replace (truck is built around it). Thermostat could be stuck open. If WP was bad, would also suspect overheating. Could remove hose to heater core and reverse flush with garden hose. Here is plumbing chart.

 

Or, when was the last time you checked your coolant level, are you low, or leaking????

 

I have coolant in my floorboards!! Any suggestions?

 

Your heater core has a hole in it or o e of your orings has went south my money is on the heater core super fun job.

 

Might not be coolant. Floor boards can be wet becuase of plugged drain(s) for the AC. There is one on each side of tranny hump, looks like a plastic nipple from underside, and both need to be clear. With AC on and draining, should have two water spots under truck.

IMHO with coolant on floorboards I would bypass heater core under the hood, and see if problem fixed, before tearing into dash. Here's the plumbing diagram.

 

There is a very distinct smell difference between coolant and water? Just my opinion if you dont kniw the difference stop and take truck to dealership now.

 

coolant seems fine. I have noticed that when I am driving I can hear what sounds like water moving around somewhere in behind or around the glove compartment area. Not sure if this has anything to do with it, or if its just another issue

 

That would be the famous waterfall sound which means that there is air in you cooling system. Search how to bleed cooling system and give it a try. Air in system will cause truck to overheat and then a snowball of problems if the snowball is not what caused the air to be in there.
