Default No power below 2000rpm when warm

Hi everyone. I have just purchased a 2000 td5 and having an issue. When first started the car runs well and has plenty of power. After the car has run for a while and is fully warmed up it looses power below 2000rpm to a point where any steep drive and you have to switch into low range just to get up. Taking off from an intersection can be dangerous as it just does not pull until it gets to 2000rpm then it takes off like a rocket.

I have disconnected and also replaced the MAF, no difference. I have checked the wastegate and it is free. I have disconnected the ECG and it makes no difference. Replaced the air filter and checked all the hoses. No engine lights or anything being reported on ODBii.

Does anyone have any idea what the issue may be? For the first 10 minutes of driving it seems fine.

thanks

Get a scan tool and check the ECT to make sure it is showing the correct temperature. An incorrect ECT would affect injector timing and fueling. You might also want to check the boost pressure to see if it is making boost.

Is it shifting?

Kind of sounds like you're stuck just in one gear.

Get a scan tool and see what lane Rover specific trouble codes you have. Post them here.
Until then, you are just shooting in the dark trying to fix the problem.

Hi, I don’t have a scan tool but no errors are showing up using my odbii reader. I replaced the temp sensor today and no change. Is definitely changing gear ok.

Occasionally when warm it is ok and it seems to make power at about 1300-1500 rpm but most of the time it is 2000 which makes it really difficult on steep inclines.

ELM327 from Amazon is $5 (I use the free torque app), Autool is $35. Get one and check the boost.

My autotool doesnt always display the temp. For some reason it started showing a blank screen. I have to unplug it and then plug it back in.

One of mine does that too, kinda bothersome. The oil temperature reading works 100% of the time.
