Default No SES Light w/ Ignition On

I noticed that when I turn the key to position 2 and all the dash lights come on momentarily, the Service Engine Soon light does not illuminate. I recently acquired this 2004 Disco SE7 and did not notice that the light did not illuminate before now. Is there a fuse for this or anything I can check? Or am I lucky that it doesn't illuminate and I should just leave it be? lol

I purchased a dash display that gives me engine temp, but not really anything else. It does show an illuminated check engine light though, just no way to know what unless I take a trip to AutoZone (do their scanners work on LR discos?).

The UltraGuage is sold out until the end of May or early June, according their website, so I will order as soon as it is back in stock.

That usually means either a used car dealer or the previous owner had an issue that they couldn't or didn't want to fix and they disabled the SES light. Sometimes black tape sometimes removed the bulb.

Get the codes read so you know what they are hiding, then take the gauge cluster out of the dash and inspect to see which variety of scam you got.

Any scanner or code reader will be able to pull the ecm codes.

When I first got mine sure enough i had the same issue but when hooked up to a code reader it had a slue of codes stored. I decided to take the cluster out to investigate. Sure enough I found a piece of black take between the bulb and the display panel. This was a way for the person selling the car to show that there was no light on without suspecting a thing.

Just comes to show how shady some people are nowadays. It's a crying shame.

Great... I'll take a trip to Advanced Auto and report back with all the codes. Starting to feel like I bought a lemon. Lol

Buy yourself an ultraguage dude

You 100,000% need one with a D2 lol Monitor your coolant temp and check / clear codes.

They're under $80 on amazon. It's a no brainer

Edit: I need to clarify lol Scanguage is $80, Ultraguage $140. I use scanguage on mine

Scanguage is on Amazon for $140. UltraGuage is only sold through its own site for $80 and they are back ordered until end of May/ early June. I have a OBD monitor now that is cheap and monitors temps, but will get returned once the UltraGuage is back in stock.

codes are:
P0171
P1174
P1171
P1412

I believe the first 3 are all "too lean" codes and indicate a vacuum leak somewhere??

The last is some kind of SAI Fault, I think also a vacuum leak??

Not too bad I guess.

As you say, first three are lean codes. I have no personal experience but others here have.

1412 is SAI. Check the vacuum lines for cracks then make sure that of the little rubber connectors are connected and sealed (may need some little zip ties). Also use a jumper wire and verify that the solenoid on the driver side of the intake works as it should. I had 1412 and my problem was the vac reservoir just in front of the SAI pump. There is a valve inside that was stuck. I manually drew a vacuum and could feel the valve break free. Has worked fine since
