Radio issue
After driving yesterday as I was parking, the (stock oem) radio quit playing music as soon as I shifted into Reverse. Radio stays on, but unresponsive to control any buttons. When shutting off the truck, the radio will per norm shut down as it should. While the truck was off I turned on the radio and no music, radio is lit up and displaying as it should , but still -- unresponsive controls / buttons. I confirmed the reverse being the "triggering" of the fault at hand here by having the same results occur 3 times consecutively
as mentioned above.
On a side note , may be directly related but for the past month or two the volume control dial on the radio has been acting up.
How should I attack this ?

I had this exact same thing happen last year. did it occasionally and would always come back. Finally it just stopped working altogether. I went out and seeing $200 on a replacement deck that has a usb and aux imput. The only thing I lost was steering wheel controls.
Symptoms: my stock deck would be powered with lights on but I had no control over it. no volume, no on-off....nothing.

Any thing special I should know about replacing the radio. I haven't done much reading about it. I was kinda thinking it was the radio. When you replaced the radio all was good thereafter? Any good affordable recommendations for a replacement?
This reminds me of the guy a while back who was having satanic radio issues- to the degree that it came on started playing randomly even after he unhooked the battery...
Anyway, to be productive, the OEM radio was inop at purchase and I knew I was going to replace it no matter what. So I got a Pioneer head unit, the harness to connect to the OEM amp, the bezel, and even the device to make the steering wheel controls work for all right at $200 from Crutchfield. The Bluetooth works exceptional, sound quality is darn good, and install really was pretty simple. If you like I'll snap a pic and get you the model number. I actually chose the unit I did based on Bluetooth quality reviews and it has not disappointed.
