Question No Spark - need help

I swear I am going to get this thing running.

History - bought not running, oil pump seized, broke timing gears, cover.
Two dealerships had it and the 1st replaced the fuel pump to fix the problem, then said needs engine, towed to second
2nd - replaced crank position sensor, compression test etc, needs engine

I bought it, checked it out, disagreed with both above after tests. Found real problem.

I have put it all back together, now it does not have spark.

I need advice on troubleshooting and this thing has been turned over numerous times with no spark plugs in it will that damage the coil packs?

It turns over great, I have chedek the fuses under the hood and inside, all good, I used a spark tester cliped to the exhaust manifold and no spark.

Is there a troubleshooting guide in the manuals? I have the rave manual, did I miss it?

Thanks for all the help

So has the CPS actually been replaced? They can be tempermental if the are hit hard enough. If there is no spark and the COS is known to be good then you need to look at coils. Although I have not heard of the whole coil pack going bad at once. I would lean more towards the CPS still.

It appeared to be knew, it did not have any scratches or dings. Any way to test them?

I also locked the door and the horned beeped once, I assume setting the alarm (i do not have the remote key only a generic key), does the alarm turn off of you use the lock? Will the engine crank if the alarm is activated? Still looking for info on hand testing the CPS. Thanks Guys

The horn will beep if there is a door or something that is open trying to tell you that it is not fully locked.

I have no idea how to bench test the CPS, I only know to get another one and see. I have a coupld of Discos so whenever I need to check a part sometimes I just pull a known working one of one of the others and se if it fixes the cure.

When I swapped the motor in my P38 I just bumped the CPS while putting it in and then it did not work. I had a spare on the old engine so it was just a matter of minutes.

If your horn beeps when locking the door it means one of your door switches or the hood switch is stuck open or broken. If the rubber boot around the hood switch is broken it won't be tall enough for the hood to close it all the way.

That explains that, the back door was still open. I know on some sensors you can test it using a volt ohm meter. Any ideas?
