Default No spark no fuel

Was driving my 99 home and the engine went out, no spark or fuel. It will crank but wont start. What could this be. I was thinking CPS, does anyone have any ideas? or know what this is?

Did you check the inertia switch?

I think you have to start with testing the CPS, and fuel pump, not that I could do it.

If you read through the RAVE Engine Management System Chapter it describes the symptoms of faulty individual components. Without codes it is really difficult to say.

Any warning lights illuminate on your dash when you turn the key to position 2? If so you will need to read the codes to know where to start looking.

Do you see RPM's on the Tach when you try to start it? That could point to the CPS instantly if it isn't seeing the engine turn over, however I have had bad CPS in the past and they showed RPM's but the engine still wouldn't start. CPS is certainly a common issue especially if it's still the original one. If you get one from Auto Zone inspect it before purchase 50/50 chance it's an exact OEM Bosch unit just in a Duralast box. How did you verify no spark? Did you use a spark plug tester? CPS symptoms usually show up after the engine gets warm & it won't re-start until it cools down.

Check the fuel pressure on the rail - you can borrow a fuel pressure regulator at Oreilly. Squirt some fuel in the throttle body, see if it pops. Pull a plug wire, stick a phillips screwdriver in the plug wire and put it a short distance from grounded metal - see if a spark jumps. Swap in a CPS, Best is right they normally fail hot and will allow the engine start once cooled off.

Good luck and report back.

Went to start her this morning, nothing. Pulled a code, all that showed up was Anti-Theft Alarm Serial Link fault, Drive cycle A. Would that be doing something to immobilize it? It would not restart after it cooled. Will keep updating with what I find.

What is the LED on the dash doing? Normally when it freaks out a simple turn of the key in the door or in the ignition will cancel it out.

Use your Key Plip and lock/unlock 3 times. I think.

Lock and unlock three times, preferably with the remote, see if that fixes it.
