Noise on Gear case (CDL) (?)
Hi! I have a '00 Discovery II, and lately as soon as the car warm up, there is a constantly heavy noise, when running, like something is hitting (bam, bam), fron the center of the car. A mechanic, friend of mine, lifted the car and told me that a cable from the CDL was loose, reading the Forum, I figure out how to opening from the top, and I replaced the C-clip. After that, I was able to engage and dis-engage the Hi-Lo gear, (when the noise started, I loosed this feature), and the warning light telling me that the Gear case was in neutral was operating fine, but not the one showing the car was operating in Hi-Lo gear. This time takes a little big longer for the noise to come back, but there is again. Any ideas? Thanks!

When running, or when MOVING? If when moving, does it change pace with the speed you are moving? If whenever running, does it change speed with the speed of the engine?
