Default Not overheating anymore...for now!

I posted a couple weeks ago about my LR overheating and just wanted to post the latest in my "wish I could forget" first experience as a LR owner. Since the overheating didn't go away after changing the thermostat and flushing the system, I relented and took it to a local mechanic. Well, $1600 later and a new radiator, upper hose, and water pump, it appears as though the problem with the overheating is solved. The mechanic said he found stop leak in the system as well as some yellow plastic pieces lodged in the water pump. Any ideas on that? So I drove it home with my wallet feeling much lighter and low and behold, the "service engine soon" light came on. I'm hoping someone steals it...I just don't think they would get very far.

Bright yellow or yellowed plastic?

Bright yellow I would guess would be a the remnants of a Prestone "flush kit" that was probably removed but broken at some point. Yellowed white plastic sounds like a piece of a former thermostat.

Dude? Seriously? WOW, I hope those parts were gold-plated and he gave you a lifetime warranty. When was the last time your headgaskets were done? What type of coolant did your thief (oops, mechanic) put back in?

Get your codes read at your local auto parts store and get back to us...
