Default Not your typical CDL question..

I have a 2000 DII. From everything I have read online it should have a CDL, just no shifter for the CDL. No where can I find that 00's did not have a CDL. From 99-02 and 04 it looks like they all had them, with or without shifter.

When trying to find the "nipple/bolt/spigot" (whatever you call it in your country) to turn the CDL on from underneath the truck (on the top near the front driveshaft attachment) my hands are finding blankness, wide open spaces of nothing. So I decided to get a light and video recorder up in the spot.

This is what I found. Nothing. Am I looking in the right place?

Any and all guidance is much appreciated. Thanks

it should be right inside your red box..... and it isn't. You have a transfer case from an 02. Your correct, your year Disco should have at least the Hi/Lo function which could be switched over to the D1 Locked/4Hi/4Lo, Unlocked 4Hi/4Lo and Neutral CDL.

I have the Hi/Lo, just not the Diff on the Shift, which I thought was typical of the 2000. Figured I at least had a 2000 TC but your answer confirms my worst fear. Reason it is my worst fear is that I have taken out the front shaft to replace u's and yoke but having a hard time sourcing the middle yoke between the two u's on the back of the front shaft. Thought I would engage the CDL and drive on, but currently when just trying to drive it up and off of ramps to work on it the rear end and TC are making horrible noises and grinds and bangs and such, thought maybe the TC was in a "half" CDL lock position. Yet there is no position cause there is no switch.

So if there is no switch for CDL, and there is no front driveshaft right now, how is any power going to the rear at all? Cause I can still drive it a few feet it just makes noises like its trying to drag me to hell with it.

Even if you had cdl you would not be going far with it locked. If your hearing noises you got something else wrong

Where are the noises coming from? The TC noises may just be the ABS pump and calipers trying to reconcile the lack of a front shaft. Is this 4 high or low?

On the CDL itself, my ‘00 has a light that comes on in the dash when I engage it and I didn’t wire anything. I used a unit from an ‘04.

The noises are coming from not only the TC but also from the area of the rear diff. Sounds like my brother's stepkids banging pots and pans in the kitchen. cast iron pots and pans.

Sounds like crunchy crunchy gears. You may actually want to check if you have enough gear oil in your transfer case and differential.
