Default CDL question

I am making a CDL linkage assembly. Today I put the lever on the tranfercase and it easily engages/disengages the CDL. After the test around the yard I disengaged the CDL with no problem. The ABS light And the TC light came on until I turned the engine off and restarted it then they went off. The Red CDL light is on when the CDL is engaged. After disengaging the CDL the red CDl light stayed on until I moved the vehical about a hundred feet. Is there something wrong? It still drives on the street normal.

Thank you,
Willie

Everything it is doing is normal, the trio of lights will come on when you engage the CDL, they will stay on till you disengage the CDL and restart the engine. Once ia awhile the CDL light will stay on till the truck is moved so it can dieengage the gears inside the t/case.
Now go out on a trail and see the difference it makes.

Thank you for your help mike. I Installed the CDL linkage today. It locks the transfer case easily. Not as nice as the factory version but $700 dollers cheaper. I tested the rig on a steep hill climb. Without the transfer case locked the traction control was on all the way to the top, a lot of throttle was needed and wear to the brakes. With the CDL locked the traction contol never came on and never spun a tire. This is definitly the best modification for offroading.

will a D1 CDL shifter work on a '99 DII? I called roverland parts and they told me I need the '04 shifter that cost $329.

Yes the D1 linkage will work, but you'll need to bend one of the pieces. Here's one of two write-ups on installing the D1 linkage.

Has anybody tried using an electric solenoid to turn the CDL stud? I know some people complain about them sticking and hard to turn after years of non-use but mine turned really easy.

Several companies make Solenoid versions of the CDL lever, the only "bad" things I have heard is they can pack up after a year or so due to lots of water and mud "if" you wade a lot etc.
