Default O2 problem

I am having an ongoing O2 issue with my D2, I replaced all 4 sensors myself, but the codes came back after a month or so (0150, 0174, 1174, 0159) for front passenger side.

I have two questions
1. Can oil on the connector short out the sensor and wreck it?
2. A local LR shop owner is telling me that I need to bring my truck in for an hour's labor and have my computer reset in order for the new O2 sensors to work properly, I have not seen any mention of that on these forums, is that true?

Thanks in advance

1.) yes. An electrical short is an electrical short. It's going to cause problems. Especially if it bridges the 12v heater element conductor to one of the two sensor conductors. You can blow an O2 sensor with as little voltage as an ohm meter puts out.

2.) Total BS. The code will go away on its own, or you can use a cheap OBDII code reader to reset it yourself (which you can buy for less than an hour of shop labor).

How did you originally try to reset the codes? Did you try disconnecting the battery?

Thanks DarylJ, I thought it sounded fishy, I thought the same thing and ended up buying an ultragauge.

DiscoRover007, the ultragauge can reset codes, that is what I used.
