so, just wondering, does this reader hook up to computer? does it tell you what the code is? can it tell you its a maf sensor or does it just give you a number.

Okay - got the scanner, plugged it in to my Landy and got only one code: P0171- system too lean (bank 1). So I cleared it from the computer which turned off the dash warning light, and drove it for about 100 miles and so far the service engine soon warning light has not turned back on nor does the scanner detect any new codes.

Does this mean I might be getting a false "lean system" warning ala the 3 amigos? And speaking of the 3 amigos, why didn't the Landy's computer have a record of the multiple 3 amigos warnings that I have been getting over the past several months?

This is more fun than my old Corvette

Goes through the ABS ECU, you need testbook to read it.

3 amigo's are sometimes triggered by ABS fault codes which can not be read by an OBDII scanner, you have to have Testbook( The dealer diagnostic tool), or an Autologic Scanner, which will run you about $5K

Thank you for the information on Testbook and Autologic. This will help me to not completely ignore future 3 amigo warnings, though I will test the abs in a safe environment to ensure it still works before taking my Landy to the dealer. As for the hill descent and traction control warnings, do they also route through the abs ecu, or will my equus obd II scanner acurately provide diagnostic information?

Regarding the "bank 1 - system too lean warning", does that sporadically occur when the gas cap is too loose or beginning to fail? Again, here I assume if it continues to appear then a MAF sensor replacement is in order.

Thanks again for all of the very useful information.

Dave
