Default OBDII Scanner

Has anyone tryed the OT-2 by Innovate Motorsport?
Does it work on a '99 Disco ONE ?
I once tried a OBDII from Princess Auto and it doesn't read my car. Wasted $$$
If I buy again it will be something worth the money
Then again the iPod or iTouch will soon be outdated and I'll find myself with the tool and no way to run the app.
What are your opinions?
What do you use?

Gooooooal!

Go here, http://www.canobd2.com/Products/Tools.aspx and look at all the scanners from the 3130 down, then go to Amazon.com and buy it for a lot less.
I bought the 3130 some time when it was being sold in the mid $300 range, got it from Amazon for $134 and it will work on nearly everything including OBD1's with a small adapter hooked on.
The only thing you won't be able to access is the ABS faults on your Disco, but that takes a different scanner anyway.

If you have a Harbor Freight tools nearby, they have a cheap OBDII scanner that will read Discos. (other than ABS codes of course). I think I paid 30 bucks for mine and it clears them and everything.

Any OBDII scanner will work...unless your OBD port is dead.
I bought my scanner off of e-bay.

Thank you for the replies
Camdisco: No harbor freight in Canada. What's the model, I'll search from here. $60 Sounds good
Spike: good tip on the port! The $60 unit would be good for testing the port even though it was working recently with a "rovacom". That mechanic has retired.

Is there a list of scanners, prices and sources in LRF that I could look and choose from?
If so DUHHH! on me, else it's something to consider.

Another thing I'd like to see is a "Thank you" button to click on to thank the poster without filling the post with replies. The member thanks should be tallied and shown. Disco Mike and Spike, you have helped me even before I joined and there should be a way to recognize you.

Goooooal!

Default OBDII Scanner Protocol

Does any body know what the protocol is for a '99 disco one?
My scanner goe throu the protocols and then .... nothing.
When buying the next one I want to make sure I get one that can read my car protocol.
I guess that when you connect your scanner it shows the protocols that it's trying. Can you post yours?

Thanks,
SD

Yeah, the CEL is on again and after disconnecting the battery comes on right away when the engine is started.

Lordco Autoparts in Canada carries CanOBD2 code readers.
There will be a good display just as you go in the door.
I negotiated a lower price in a few minutes from the manager.
This will give you a chance to look at the selection and ask some questions.
Good luck

Thanks Eaglewing,
The web site says: "Lordco Autoparts is the largest auto parts dealer in British Columbia".... I'm in South Western Ontario.
Still, the question is about the protocol of communication.
Knowing this I'll know what to look for.
