Default OBDII scanner to reset gas cap fault?

2000 Disco 126K. SES is illuminated due to gas cap being left open by attendant. I have closed correctly and have run through approximately 30 on-off cycles including a refill, but light remains on. I take care of the vehicle and am fairly sure that nothing else is going on - car runs fine - this happened once before and I stopped by my mechanic who reset it. Is there a sequence of "on-offs" that will reset this, or do I need to visit him again? I note that 3 rapid on-offs seemed to have reset SES after change of air filter triggered it, or was this coincidence?

Thanks!

First of all, 3 rapid restarts will not reset a check engine light, only fixing the problem then turn the codes off with a scanner.
Go get your codes read and get back to us with the exact 4 digit fault code.
