DiscoMike or anyone else that may know, will doing the cdl conversion to my truck change the perminant 4x4 feature making it 2 wheel if the cdl is not locked and will it mess with the traction control?

Will not change anything when not engaged, will though give you nearly 50% more traction when engaged and allow for less brake pad wear when wheeling.

But remember your front and rear diffs are open, so if you're up on two wheels opp wheels will spin. TControl may help with that...maybe

All of cape hatteras is national seashore that requires a permit and they open and close sections at the whim of birds nesting in the sand. We did not go over to ocracoke, just stayed on some of the sand roads in hatteras and buxton woods. You will have to check with the park service to see if cape point is open to motor vehicle traffic when your there.

Thanks guys, you've all been great help, and I think I will invest in the conversion kit, I have a parts vehicle that im about to crush so that will help out with the cost.
